Word Alchemy is designed with privacy in mind. We collect minimal information necessary to provide and improve the game experience:

• Display Name: When you submit a score, you may provide a display name that will be shown on leaderboards. This can be your Google account name (if you sign in) or a custom name you choose.
• Game Scores: We collect your game scores and the date on which they were achieved to display on daily and all-time leaderboards.
• Authentication Information: If you choose to sign in with Google, we receive basic profile information (name, email) from Google's authentication service. We use this only to identify you within the app.
• Streak Data: For logged-in users, we track your daily play streak to calculate streak bonuses and display your progress.

We do not collect sensitive personal information, payment information, or location data. We do not track your browsing activity outside of Word Alchemy.

2. How We Use Your Information

The information we collect is used solely for the following purposes:

• Leaderboard Display: Your display name and scores are shown on public leaderboards (daily and all-time) to enable friendly competition among players.
• Game Functionality: We use your authentication information to maintain your account, track your progress, and calculate streak bonuses.
• Service Improvement: We may analyze aggregated, anonymized data to understand how the game is used and improve the user experience.

We do not use your information for advertising, marketing, or any commercial purposes beyond providing the game service.

3. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored securely using Firebase, a service provided by Google. We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your information:

• Data is encrypted in transit and at rest
• Access to user data is restricted to authorized personnel only
• We use secure authentication methods (Google Sign-In)
• Regular security reviews and updates are performed

However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security.

4. Data Sharing and Third Parties

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties. We may share your information only in the following circumstances:

• Service Providers: We use Firebase (Google) for data storage and authentication. Firebase processes your data according to Google's privacy policies.
• Dictionary API: When you submit a word, we may validate it using a third-party dictionary API. We do not share your personal information with this service.
• Legal Requirements: We may disclose information if required by law or in response to valid legal requests.

5. Local Storage

Word Alchemy uses browser local storage to save your game progress and preferences locally on your device. This includes:

• Your current game progress (found words and score)
• Your display name preference
• Sound/mute preferences
• Theme preferences (dark/light mode)

This data remains on your device and is not transmitted to our servers except when you submit your score to the leaderboard.

6. Your Rights and Choices

You have the following rights regarding your information:

• Access: You can view your scores and display name on the leaderboard at any time.
• Correction: You can update your display name by submitting a new score.
• Deletion: You can request deletion of your account and associated data by contacting us. Note that removing your data from leaderboards may affect historical rankings.
• Opt-Out: You can choose to play anonymously without creating an account, though this limits access to certain features like streak tracking.

7. Children's Privacy

Word Alchemy is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can delete that information.

8. Cookies and Tracking

Word Alchemy uses minimal tracking technologies:

• Firebase Analytics may collect anonymized usage statistics to help us improve the game
• We use browser local storage (not cookies) to save your game progress and preferences
• We do not use third-party advertising cookies or tracking pixels

9. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Significant changes will be communicated through the application or via email if you have provided your contact information.

Your continued use of Word Alchemy after any changes to this Privacy Policy constitutes acceptance of those changes.

10. International Users

Word Alchemy is hosted and operated from servers that may be located outside your country of residence. By using the service, you consent to the transfer of your information to countries that may have different data protection laws than your country.
